Carolina pine: Pinus taeda

 

Carolina Pine is a soft wood and easy to process because of its high resin content.  Carolina pine is heavier than other pines making it more resistant to decay and damage from pests. Unlike pine, Carolina pine designed for decks do not undergo disinfection but go through a drying process which prevents pests, and distortion after placement. Carolina pine grows in North America, and its unique properties make it an advantageous pine in the wood industry and in the construction of decks and construction in general.

Carolina pine is mainly used for decks, cottages, Bed & Breakfasts and fences.
